There are an infinite number of ways to get to the labyrinth, so here are a few of them. It’s best to use the GPS coordinates or
the Google Maps entry on your phone and choose your own route.

It is a moderately strenuous hike with a 700 ft gain in elevation; it will be easy for people that get plenty of cardio and brutal for those that don’t. Bring water.

  • Park in or near downtown, perhaps after visiting one of our many resturants for a meal. Parking is difficult once you leave downtown. Find your way to Green Street and follow it west. Keep following it as it takes a hairpin turn to the left and becomes Hillside Drive. Take your first available left-hand turn onto Panoramic Drive at the pepper tree that’s in the middle of the road. In about 1/2 block bear left and you should be facing a gate that’s clearly marked with East Bay Regional Parks District sinage. Go through the gate, follow the road and go through the next gate, pass to the left of the cow shed, go uphill another 30 yards and you should see a path going uphill on your left. Follow the path, slip through the fence line, and go 10 yards to the top of the hill. Makes the ‘use the map on your phone’ option look pretty attractive, doesn’t it?

  • Park at the west end of “F” Street in Martinez and hike on the dirt fire road westward and uphill, continuing west and/or uphill at every intersection. Hike to the highest point possible without leaving the road (about 1 mile), where you will see the labyrinth on your right.
